While
being a freelancer does allow us a great many opportunities
the one thing that many of us do with out is adequate health
insurance coverage.
This
summer while riding in a stylists car coming back from a
location in long island the stylist who was driving,
suddenly and for no apparent reason drove the car off the
road and crashed into a telephone pole and mailbox.
While
the stylist/driver was uninjured, and the rest of the
passengers in the car suffered only minor injuries, Sean’s
right arm was crushed when the side of the car impacted with
a tree.
This
singular event has changed Sean’s life.
As you
can see from the X-Rays and the accompanying images this has
not been the most enjoyable summer for Sean.
(See the
full size image at the bottom of the page.)
The
initial prognosis was that Sean would have his arm
amputated.
Thankfully through a series of surgeries Sean’s arm was
saved though as you can see it is being held together with
pins and steel rods.
Once these pins
are removed there will need to be a series of skin grafts
and rehabilitation.
It is
still not known to what degree or when Sean will be able to
regain the use of his arm.
Many of
you may know or have worked with Sean.
And
everyone knows that photo assisting does not pay well enough
to afford many of us the luxury of health insurance.
This
could have happened to anyone of us, at any time, on any
job.
Unfortunately it happened to Sean Moser.
